Solid, sterile single use filament needles are used and unlike other techniques, dry needling is essentially pain-free. Dry needling does not focus on the chinese meridians (as it does in acupuncture) but rather focuses on stimulating altered or dysfunctional structures to:
- Decrease pain
- Improve quality of movement
- Increase range of movement
Turramurra Sports & Spinal Physiotherapists specialise in dry needling and have been trained in the specific musculoskeletal and neurodynamic screening techniques to optimise our patients results.
The results commonly found after appropriate treatment session is as effective and in some cases more effective than manual therapy without the ‘post treatment muscle soreness’, although it does sometimes happen.
